Abstract

Kata Kunci: Anak Usia 9 - 11 Tahun, Durasi Tidur, IMT ABSTRACT Sleep duration in children greatly influences how children can grow and develop optimally. A number of hormones in sleep will cause short interactions of sleep duration with high metabolism and body mass index (BMI). The high rate of BMI of children reaches 18%, one of which is caused by short sleep duration. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sleep duration and body mass index (BMI) in children aged 9-11 years. The design of this study used Analytical Survey with Cross Sectional design. Sampling uses purposive sampling techniques. The sample of this study were children aged 9 - 11 years in SDN 03 Pakisaji who fulfilled the inclusion criteria as many as 37 respondents. The results of this study of 37 respondents found 12 respondents with short sleep duration, almost all of whom experienced an increase in body mass index, namely as many as 10 people were obese. This study uses the correlation Pearson Moment Product statistical test where it is found that the longer the duration of sleep, the lower the IMT value and vice versa the shorter the duration of sleep, the higher the IMT value, with a p value of 0,000 because the value of p = 0,000 <0,005 significant relationship between sleep duration and BMI. The results of this study are expected to provide information and description in providing social support to families to pay more attention to sleep duration associated with BMI.
