Abstract

Objective: Many administrative employees suffer from low back pain which greatly interferes with work activities. The onset of low back pain in the workplace can be caused by different occupational hazards such as praying and repetitive lifting (e.g. nurses, construction workers), vibration (e.g. drivers), and long duration of being in a standing or sitting position (e.g., traders, office workers). In office workers, the prevalence of low back pain is around 34%. Methods: This research was included in the form of a one group pretest-posttest design, namely an experiment carried out in one experimental group without a comparison group which was conducted in July 2022. The variables used in this study were independent variables, namely plank exercise and the dependent variable low back pain myogenic and lumbar flexibility. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. Results: Based on the results of the Paired T-Test for MMST, Sig. 2-tailed of 0.008 and the Wilcoxon test for VAS obtained Sig. 2-tailed is 0.002 so that the p value <0.05 can be interpreted as having an effect of giving Plank Exercise to changes in pain and increasing lumbar flexibility in cases of myogenic low back pain in administrative staff at RSI Aisyiyah Malang. Conclusion: There is an effect of plank exercise in reducing pain and increasing lumbar flexibility in cases of myogenic low back pain in administrative staff at RSI Aisyiyah Malang.
