Abstract
Hypertension is persistent where the systolic pressure is above 140 mmHg and the diastolic pressure is above 90 mmHg. One of the plants that can be used as an alternative to overcome high blood pressure (hypertension) is celery (Apium graveolens L.) because celery (Apium graveolens L.) contains flavonoids which act as antioxidants that can flex and dilate blood vessels, apigenin role to prevent blood vessel constriction, vitamin C has a role to maintain normal blood pressure, apiin has a role to help the kidneys remove excess fluid and salt from the body, calcium has a role to maintain balance between sodium and potassium, magnesium has a role to dilate arteries, and potassium functions as Diuretic, which stimulates the release of fluid in the body that is bound by salt so that it can lower blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of celery boiled water (Apium graveolens L.) on high blood pressure (hypertension) in menopausal women at the Posyandu Lansia Sentong, Lawang District, Malang Regency. The study design used a pre-experimental approach to the One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with a sample size of 10 respondents. The results were obtained before treatment given that 2 respondents had prehypertension, 6 respondents had stage 1 hypertension and 2 respondents had stage 2 hypertension, and after being given treatment that 4 respondents had normal blood pressure, 4 respondents had prehypertension, 1 respondent had stage 1 hypertension, and 1 respondent continues to experience stage 2 hypertension. Data collection uses SPO sheets and observation sheets. In this study using the Wilcoxon test analysis obtained 0.005 with (p <0.05) which means that the p value is less than the value ɑ which indicates H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, there is the effect of giving celery boiled water (Apium graveolens L.) to high blood pressure (hypertension) in menopausal women at the Posyandu Lansia Sentong, Lawang District, Malang Regency. It is expected that the results of this study can help the community, especially menopausal women in dealing with high blood pressure (hypertension), can use celery boiled water (Apium graveolens L.) and it is better to consume before the blood pressure rises.
